Meet Susanne, who is running the 2026 Sydney Marathon for Tuesday’s Promise

For Susanne, running for Tuesday's Promise has been about more than crossing finish lines. It has been an opportunity to raise awareness and introduce others to the organization's mission. Whether someone donates, asks about the charity she is running for, or she meets a fellow runner along the course, every connection reminds her of the power of community. In fact, during her very first marathon in Berlin, she met another Tuesday’s Promise runner and shared part of the race together, creating a memory she still treasures.
Sydney will be Susanne's sixth marathon, and she believes every race tells the story of a season in her life. Although she originally planned to run alongside family members, plans changed, and she will now travel across the world to take on Sydney on her own. Rather than seeing it as a setback, Susanne views it as an empowering opportunity to explore a new city, meet new people, and show her children that they are capable of doing hard things.
Training has not come without challenges. Battling plantar fasciitis has made some mornings especially difficult, but through rest, recovery, and determination, Susanne has stayed focused on her goal. She knows crossing the finish line will be a reminder of her resilience, her gratitude for the opportunity to run, and her belief that life is meant to be embraced, even when the road is tough.
One mantra has stayed with her throughout training: "We all get the same medal." It reminds her that every run does not have to be perfect. Showing up is enough.
Susanne runs for many reasons. She wants to model discipline and perseverance for her children, find clarity through movement, and appreciate the beauty of the outdoors. Whether she is starting a long run under the moonlight, watching the sunrise through the trees, or finishing beneath the clouds, every mile is a reminder of how fortunate she is to run and to be part of the Tuesday’s Promise community.
